Geoffrey Janssens' research lies in the areas of non-commutative ring theory, (geometric) group theory, classical representation theory (of finite groups) and representation theory of finite dimensional algebras. Questions bridging several of these areas are those attracting his attention the most. In an explicit or sometimes implicit way my research is centred around the natural problem of distinguishing groups or algebras by means of invariants. The latter can be internal data (such as in group or ring theory) or external structures where for example the group or algebra under consideration acts on (such as in representation theory or geometric group theory).
