Raman Nair R. holds Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Banaras Hindu University and PhD from the University of Kerala. In 1998, he pioneered the Mahatma Gandhi University Online PhD Theses Archive, a landmark initiative that helped launching the movement to make Indian dissertations publicly accessible. He has contributed to several open access projects of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, Kerala Sahithya Academy and University of Kerala and served as a member of the Government of India’s National Committee on Submission and Access to Electronic Theses and Dissertations (1999). Has organized numerous national and international workshops on Informatics in collaboration with the Ministries of Science and Technology, Agriculture, and Culture of Govt of India, and also UNESCO. Has numerous published books and research papers. He also played a key role in establishing the Centre for Advanced Research in Library and Information Science at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, in 2010.
