Alan Sommerstein is Emeritus Professor of Greek at the University of Nottingham, UK, where he taught for nearly 40 years. He has edited or translated more than 100 complete or fragmentary plays of Aeschylus, Sophocles, Aristophanes and Menander; he is also the author of Aeschylean Tragedy (2nd ed. 2010) and the editor of the Wiley–Blackwell Encyclopedia of Greek Comedy (2019).
