Sanaa Azaizeh is a heritage conservation specialist and trainer with extensive experience in archaeological fieldwork, cultural heritage management, and capacity-building programs in Jordan. She holds an M.Sc. in Applied Science in Archaeology and a B.Sc. in Conservation and Management of Cultural Resources from Yarmouk University.
She has worked in multiple professional roles at SELA for Training and Protection of Heritage, including Project Manager, Head of Conservation Department, and Conservation Trainer. Her work involves conservation planning, technical assessment, and the development and delivery of training programs for professionals and students in cultural heritage.
Her field experience includes leading and supervising archaeological excavations at key sites in Jordan such as Tell al-Husn, Umm Qais, Tell Damiyah, and Umm as-Surab, in collaboration with international and national institutions. She has also contributed to major conservation and documentation projects, including wall painting conservation in Petra and community-based heritage initiatives.
She has participated in several international training programs and workshops in Jordan, Lebanon, and Italy, focusing on plaster conservation, mosaics, employment-intensive heritage practices, and training-of-trainers methodologies.
She is also an active researcher and has presented at international conferences, including the International Conference on the History and Archaeology of Jordan (ICHAJ 16) in Greece. Her research interests include archaeological conservation, heritage sustainability, and community engagement in heritage preservation.
