Roberto Bonfil was born in Greece, 1937. Married and father of three. Graduate of the Italian Rabbinic Seminary (1959), Torino University (in Physics, 1960). PhD in Jewish History (The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, 1976). Formerly Acting Chief Rabbi of the Jewish Community of Milan. In Israel from 1968. Emeritus Professor of Jewish History at the Hebrew University.
