Mahtab Jafari

Mahtab Jafari received her Pharm.D. from UCSF School of Pharmacy in 1994 and, following her graduation, completed a residency program in clinical pharmacy. After her residency, she joined the faculty at UCSF School of Pharmacy as an Assistant Clinical Professor. Two years later, she was offered a faculty position at the new College of Pharmacy at Western University of Health Sciences.
From 1997 to 2002, Dr. Jafari was involved in the didactic and clinical teaching of medical students, residents, fellows and pharmacy students and residents. In 2002, she joined Abbott Laboratories as a Research Scientist in the Neuroscience department. At Abbott Neuroscience, she lead studies on metabolic complications of CNS compounds and eventfully became a Senior Research Scientist.
Dr. Jafari joined pharmaceutical sciences at UCI in January 2005 and immediately developed the pharmaceutical sciences undergraduate major proposal which was approved by the UCI Senate in March 2006. So far, she has developed and taught two new courses: “Molecular Pharmacology” and “Drugs: The Good and The Bad”.
