José Martínez Rubio is a Full Professor in the Department of Spanish Philology at the Universitat de València. Previously, he developed his teaching and research activity at the Università degli Studi di Bologna (2013-2016) and the Universitat Jaume I (2017-2020). He has carried out research stays at Yale University within the Fulbright Program (2025), Universidad de Alcalá (2022) or Universidad Nacional de La Plata (2013), or teaching stays at the Università degli Studi di Napoli L’Orientale (2024, 2021), the Università degli Studi di Torino (2023) or the National University of La Plata (2024). His field of specialization is the Spanish and Latin American novel between the 20th and 21st centuries in the field of historical memory. He has dealt in particular with the forms of memory representation (non-fiction, docufiction, autofiction, hybrid genres and journalistic and political discourse) in the Spanish and Latin American novel, intergenerational debates about the traumatic past in the 20th and 21st centuries, the processes of decolonization in Africa and their literary representation, gay and queer literature in Spanish literature throughout the 20th century.
