Gian Marco Ciampa
Gian Marco Ciampa was born in Rome in 1990. After studying with high-calibre teacherssuch as Bruno Battisti d’Amario, Fabrizio Verile, Fernando Lepri and Celestino Dionisi,he graduated with top marks, distinction and Special Mention with M° Arturo Tallini from “Santa Cecilia” Conservatoire in Rome.Since he was a child he has taken part in and won several music competitions both inItaly and abroad (Melbourne International Guitar Competition[Australia], Omis International Guitar Competition[Croazia], International Competition Alirio Diaz,”International Competition “Ferdinando Carulli”, International Competition “Giulio Rospigliosi”), receiving in recent years also prestigious awards: among others, the first prize at the European Classical Guitar Competition Enrico Mercatali (Gorizia, Italy) in 2013 and at the International Competition “Niccolò Paganini” (Parma, Italy) in 2012.In 2016, Gian Marco will be on Tour for more than 40 concerts in Australia, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Croatia and Italy.The Australian Tour is made up from more than 10 events including concerts and masterclasses in prestigious avenues as the Glebe Sydney Festival, the Melbourne Conservatorium, Knox Hall of Gosford and Brisbane International Guitar Festival.In May 2015 he left for China with #CiampaBeijingTour that sees him perform with great success in concert and hold Masterclass at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, the prestigious Academy of Opera of Peking University and the beautiful Auditorium of 'Italian Cultural Institute of the Italian Embassy.During the summer of 2014 he won a scholarship to attend the prestigious New YorkMannes College and is engaged in a series of concerts in the USA that led him to performeven for the famous NEW YORK CLASSICAL GUITAR SOCIETY at the ManhattanTheatre in New York.In the same year he won the third prize in the prestigious International Competition Michele Pittaluga and Scientific Committee of the same competition awarded him the prestigious Golden Guitar as best young talent.Since he was very young Gian Marco has played concerts at important venues andfestivals all over Italy and abroad: at the Manhattan Theatre of New York for the “NewYork City Classical Guitar Society”, at the Omis International Guitar Festival, at the“Sala Sinopoli” of the Auditorium Parco della Musica and the Sala Accademica of the“Santa Cecilia” Conservatoire in Rome, at the San Giacomo Festival (Bologna), at the“Casa della Musica” (Parma), at the Chitarrissima Guitar Festival(Torino), at the TeatroManzoni (Pistoia), at the Accademia Chigiana (Siena).Several important Italian newspapers and magazines (La Repubblica, La Nazione, IlTempo, Il Corriere Della Sera, Dotguitar, Le Cool etc.) have featured articles andinterviews about Gian Marco and his talent.In 2006 he was chosen – out of thousands of applicants – as one of two young guitaristswho were invited to perform live on the Italian TV show “Domenica In - Ieri, oggi edomani” (Rai 1), hosted by famous Italian TV presenter Pippo Baudo under the musicaldirection of Maestro Pippo Caruso.In 2011 he was selected to take part in the guitar course held by Maestro Oscar Ghiglia atthe prestigious Accademia Chigiana in Siena, where he graduated with merit as well asreceiving a scholarship as one of the best students.His performance in front of the highest Italian political authorities at the Quirinale Palacein Rome on the International Holocaust Remembrance Day (27 January 2013) wasbroadcast live on Italian national television (Rai 3).Besides classical guitar, Gian Marco has always played the electric guitar as well. As anelectric guitarist he has performed, among others, at the Acoustic International GuitarFestival in Sarzana, Circolo degli artisti, Stazione Birra, Big Mama, Le Scimmie, as well as in recording studios with both his own band (the Libra) and as a session player with other bands, ranging from rock to jazz music, from pop to electronic music.He has been regularly taking part in master classes both in Italy and abroad (Germany,France,U.S.A.) held by world-class guitarists (Carlo Marchione, Judicael Perroy, Bruno Battistid’Amario, Aniello Desiderio, Marcin Dylla, Nuccio d’Angelo, Fabio Zanon).In 2013 is the founder and creator of the SUPERNOVA, an ensemble of guitars consisting of 8 young Italian guitarists winners of international competitions.Over the past few years Gian Marco has also been teaching both classical and electric guitar in several music schools in Rome such as the Civica Scuola delle Arti, the Cantiere della Musica, the Accademia Romana di Musica, the International Music Institute.
