Robert Mikulik

Robert Mikulik is Director of Stroke Research Program at St. Anne’s University Hospital in Brno. Stroke Research Program includes intensive, semi-intensive and standard care units. Research activities of the stroke group are conducted within hospital research unit called International Clinical Research Center (ICRC). Robert Mikulik is one of the co-founder of the ICRC, which is being built as one of the biggest research infrastructural projects in the Czech Republic. His main research interest is treatment of acute stroke, organization of health care and rising stroke awareness. Robert Mikulik is leader of research groups that involves not only physicians, but also research nurses, study coordinators, project managers, epidemiologist, engineers and other specialists (approx. 30 employees). The stroke research group is active in clinical research, translational research, and is developing the first epidemiology studies on stroke in the Czech Republic and innovative project to increase awareness of children. Stroke program has well-established research collaboration within EU countries as well as some hospitals and universities in USA. Robert Mikulik is currently Member at Large in Executive Committee in European Stroke Organization and is involved in ESO–EAST project aiming to improve stroke care in Central and Eastern European countries. Robert Mikulik has served as National Coordinator in SITS registry and is Chair of group of SITS National coordinators from Central and Eastern European countries called SITS-EAST. He has published more than 80 articles in renowned journals and participated in several national or international projects.
