Manuela Coppola holds a PhD in Anglophone Cultures and Literatures from the University of Naples ‘L’Orientale’. Her main interests focus on gender studies and postcolonial literature. She has published articles on Shakespearean rewritings, South African and Caribbean women writers, and has co-edited Middle Passages. English for Cultural and Postcolonial Studies (with K.E. Russo 2007) and Locating Subjects. Soggetti e saperi in formazione (con E. Federici, M. Parlati, 2009). Her latest publication is L’isola madre. Maternità e memoria nella narrativa di Jean Rhys e Jamaica Kincaid (Tangram 2010). She is currently researching on women poets of the Caribbean diaspora and on the intersections of gender and translation.
