Mauro Pala
Mauro Pala is Full Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of Cagliari. He has been Visiting professor in Ph.D Program in Literature at the University of Notre Dame (USA), Visiting Professor at the University of Limoges (France) 2010, Lecturer at Malta University (2011), Trinity college, Dublin (2012), Malta University Summer School “Writing the Mediterranean” (2013 and 2014). He has also lectured at Aarhus University, Helsinki Universit, Tel Aviv University, Harvard University, Trinity College Dublin and UAM University and at several Italian universities.
His research is mainly focused on:
1. Critical theory and cultural and postcolonial studies (publishing articles and essays on Raymond Williams, Edward Said, the evolution of literary analysis in the anglophone world);
2. Thematic criticism in comparative literature (especially Doeblin, German Expressionism and modernist experimentation in the US, effects of Simmel’s theory on thedevelopment of the School of Urban Studies in Chicago);
3. Romanticism and comparative studies. He has taken part in a research group focused on censorship and theatre, in which has published essays on the British reception of Schiller and, more in general, of German Romanticism.
