Thorsten Botz-Bornstein studied philosophy in Paris and received his PhD from Oxford University. As a postdoctoral researcher, he undertook extensive research on Russian formalism and semiotics in Russia and the Baltic countries. Since 1999 he has been an Associate Researcher at EHESS (Paris). He is now Associate Professor of philosophy at Gulf University for Science and Technology in Kuwait.
