Germán Teruel is lecturer at the Universidad Europea de Madrid. He obtained the PhD. in Law from the University of Bologna and the University of Murcia (international cotutelle) (2014) with the thesis The struggle of the Law against Holocaust negationism: a dangerous border, which received a grade of cum laude and an international mention. The thesis was awarded by the Centro de Estudios Políticos y Constitucionales (Premio Nicolás Pérez Serrano 2014). Previously, he studied a master's degree in Constitutional Law at the University of Seville (2010), as fellow of La Caixa Foundation, and the Law degree at the University of Murcia, with a grade of cum laude and a national honour mention (2009).
He has done internships at the European Parliament as Assistant of MEP Gutiérrez-Cortines (2009) and at the Spanish Constitutional Court (2014-2015). He has also done research stays in the Spanish Constitutional Court (2014), in the Court of Justice of the EU in the Office of Advocate General Ruiz-Jarabo (2009), and in the Italian universities of Florence (2010) and Bologna (2011-2013), under the direction of Prof. F. Mantovani and Prof. A. Morrone respectively. He has been scholar at the Royal College of Spain at Bologna (2011-2012) and junior researcher of the University of Murcia (2011-2014).
Germán Teruel has the accreditation as assistant professor (Ayudante doctor) by the Spanish National Agency of Research.

His branches of specialization are: A) Fundamental rights in the Internet; B) Freedom of speech and extreme speech; C) Constitutional European Law. Germán Teruel is member of different research projects and groups at a national and international level.
He has been involved in the University playing various roles in the governing bodies of the institution, which led him to be nominated for the award José Lostau to the spirit University and the human values. Among other positions, he was President of the Council of students of the University of Murcia and President of the legal Commission, where he drove the foundation of a free legal service for university students. He also has participated in the foundation of the National Council of Law students. He has been member and founder of different associations. He was secretary of the Royal Society of Economics of Murcia and he is an active member of the Health Users Association of the Region of Murcia.
He has a fluent knowledge of English and Italian.
