Maria Cristina Lombardi is Full Professor of Nordic Languages and Literatures at the University of Naples L’Orientale and a translator of medieval and modern Nordic texts, both poetic and prose. Her main research areas include: rhetorical figures in late medieval Icelandic poetry and contemporary Nordic poetry; editorial variants of poetic texts by medieval and contemporary authors; philological, linguistic, historical, and social aspects of magical texts in the Nordic and Germanic worlds, magical texts between myth and folklore; women’s autobiography during the time of Queen Christina of Sweden; anthroponymy in late Gotlandic runic inscriptions.
In her studies, she has also addressed translation and translation studies issues between Nordic languages and Italian, organizing seminars with the participation of Italian and foreign scholars and translators.
