Dr. Giuseppe Casale (born on 27 November 1958) is Director of the Labour Administration and Inspection Programme (LAB/ADMIN) at the ILO, Geneva. He was Chief of the Social Dialogue, Labour Law and Labour Administration Branch, ILO, Geneva and Deputy Director of the Social Dialogue, Labour Law and Labour Administration Department, ILO, Geneva since 2000. He works with the ILO for the last 25 years.
He studied law, political science, history and international economics in Italy and the United States. He holds a PhD, C.Phil and MA from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) (USA). He holds a MA from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, The Johns Hopkins University (Washington D.C.) (USA). He holds a MA (equivalent of Laurea Magistrale) from the “Cesare Alfieri” of the University of Florence (Italy).
Since September 2012, he is Secretary-General of the International Society for Labour and Social Security Law (ISLSSL), Geneva. He was Secretary-General of the International Industrial Relations Association (IIRA now ILERA) from 2006 to 2007. He is the Scientific Director of the Global Economics and Social Affairs Master (GESAM) at the University of Cà Foscari, Venice (Italy). He is visiting professor in international and comparative labour law in various universities in Italy and Europe. He is an editorial board member of several labour law journals.
