Francesco Russo è senior lecturer presso la University of Cape Town ed è membro del gruppo di ricerca Topology and Algebra e del Laboratory for Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science presso il Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. La sua ricerca si concentra in topologia algebrica, teoria dei gruppi, teoria di lie, geometria differenziale, combinatoria, omologia e teoria geometrica dei gruppi. Occasionalmente, si interessa di modellistica matematica per la musica, avendo maturato competenze professionali in questo settore. Dopo il diploma di pianoforte nel 2002 e il dottorato in matematica nel 2009, ha svolto sistematicamente periodi di ricerca, alternati a periodi di insegnamento, presso vari istituti di ricerca in Europa, Brasile e USA. Tra i più prestigiosi, si annoverano MFO in Oberwolfach (Germania) e IMPA a Rio de Janeiro (Brasile). Sistematicamente tiene seminari e conferenze a carattere internazionale in vari istituti di ricerca.
Prof. Francesco Russo is Senior Lecturer at the University of Cape Town and is a member of the groups of research “Topology and Algebra‚” and “Laboratory for Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science'' at the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. His topics of research deal with Algebraic Topology, Group Theory, Lie Theory, Differential Geometry, Combinatorics and Homology. He is even interested in mathematical models for music, because of an appropriate formation in this field. After his degree in piano in 2002 and the Phd in mathematics in 2009, he spent several periods of research and teaching abroad, especially in Europe, Brazil and USA. In particular, he worked at MFO (Oberwolfach, Germany), IMPA (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). He gives very often talks, seminars and organizes international conferences on his topics of research.
