Alessandro Calvi is an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering of Roma Tre University. He has an engineering degree and a PhD. in civil engineering. His research interests include mainly road infrastructure design, road safety, road materials and road maintenance. In the specific he has published several papers on the analysis of the road infrastructures safety under a multidisciplinary approach that takes into account the investigation of driver’s behaviour and human factors. The most of his research is based on experiments in virtual reality using interactive driving simulator for studying the variability of driving performance in relation to road geometries, operating and environmental conditions and identifying the most hazardous driving conditions in terms of road safety. He is involved in several European and national research projects. He is a member of several international committees and a reviewer for many international journals. He is a member of the editorial board of Advances in Transportation Studies, an international journal and of the scientific committee of CRISS (Inter-Universities Research Center for Road Safety) and Associate Editor of Traffic Injury Prevention.
