Alessandro De Iaco Veris

Alessandro de Iaco Veris received a degree in civil engineering and another in aerospace engineering, summa cum laude, from the “La Sapienza” University of Rome. He also received special training, including a high professional course on Projet, calcul et emploi des fusées spatiales from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de l'Aéronautique et de l'Espace (ENSAE), and a course on Dynamics of Controlled Structures from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
A strong assertor of the application of mathemathics to practical purposes and in particular to the solution of problems arising in engineering, he uses his esperience to development of mathematical models and numerical methods in the fields of aerodynamics, space flight mechanics, system studies and mission analysis.
His professional interests focus on numerical integration methods used to predict the motion of missiles and Earth satellites subject to perturbations. His publications include the following articles: Aerodynamic drag reduction by means of riblets: a survey on the state of the art, Aerotecnica, missili e spazio, December 1990; Aircraft design concepts for reducing subsonic drag due to lift, Aerotecnica, missili e spazio, December 1992; A fast method and a computer code for eclipse time calculations, Aerotecnica, missili e spazio, June 1993; and the book Practical methods for ordinary differential equations, Aracne Editrice, Roma, 2008, ISBN 978-88-548-1613-8.
In addition, he serves as an engineer for MBDA Italia (missile systems).
