Studied Architecture in Palermo. Since 2008 he has been an assistant professor of Architecture and Urban Design, and has served as the activities coordinator of the OffiCINA research group, studying Chinese urban development and landscape transformation. In 2009 he was appointed by the Zhaoqing Planning Bureau (P.R.C.) as a consultant for urban design. He is a member of several academic research groups and heads many project teams. Chiri is also is in charge of the La Maddalena Urban Plan, about which he has recently written the books Archipelago and Peacekeeping Design Strategies, both published in 2009.
