Stephen Coan is a feature writer on The Witness (which publishes a Durban and Pietermaritzburg edition). Prior to working as a journalist he was a writer-director in film and theatre. He edited H. Rider Haggard’s Diary of An African Journey and (with Alfred Tella) Mameena and other plays: The complete dramatic works of H. Rider Haggard, for publication by the University of KwaZulu-Natal Press. He has also published a volume of poetry, Chant of the Doves.
