Julius Erdmann attended Cultural Studies, Romance Philology, Psychology and Philosophy at the University of Freiburg (Germany), University of Fribourg (Switzerland), University of Stuttgart (Germany) and University Vincennes/Saint-Denis in Paris (France). His research focuses on semiotics of culture, philosophy of culture, new media and subcultural identity. He presented several papers at workshops on the semiotics of youth culture (2007), the congress of German Semiotic Society (2009), and the congress of German Romance Studies Society (2010). Now he works on his doctoral thesis on visual self representations on the internet as medium for cultural identity work. He works as scientific assistant at the chair for Studies of Romance Cultures at the University of Potsdam (Germany).
