Zanda Rubene is professor of Philosophy of education at the Faculty of Pedagogy, Psychology and Art, University of Latvia and director of Doctoral Program in Pedagogy, University of Latvia; 2004. Her doctoral thesis is on the subject of “Research of the Youth’s Critical Thinking in the Study Process at University”. She is member of International Standing Conference for the History of Education (ISCHE), Baltic Association of Historians of Pedagogy, Theodor Litt Society (Germany). She delivered lectures on philosophy, ethics, philosophy of education and critical thinking, media pedagogy at the University of Latvia. Her interests and researches focus on philosophy of education, childhood, media pedagogy, parenting, there are also several publications on these issues. She is author of Sapere aude! Critical Thinking in University Studies in Latvia (2004) and co-author of From Knowledge to Competent Activities (2006) and Introduction to Media Pedagogics (2008).
