Helena C. Araújo is full professor in the Department of Education Studies, University of Porto (Portugal), Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences. She currently teaches Sociology of Education, Gender Studies and Citizenship and Diversity. She is the Director of the Centre for Research in Education (CIIE/FPCEUP), financed by the National Foundation for Science (FCT). She supervises several PhD in education and more than 30 years experience in research in education based on life histories, interviews, focus groups, etc. She is the Portuguese coordinator of a EU FP7 project “Reducing Early School Leaving in Europe” (RESL.eu , 2013-2018). Some of her recent publications are published in journals such as International Journal of Sociology of Education, Gender and Education, Journal of Youth Studies, Interchange, Citizenship Studies.
