Mario-César Suárez Arriaga, obtained his PhD in Petroleum & Geothermal Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the UNAM (2000). Areas of scientific research: mathematical modeling of Complex Natural Systems, Continuum Mechanics and Geothermal Reservoir Engineering. He was a Research-Professor at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolas de Hidalgo (2001-2014), Mexico. He was a reservoir geothermal engineer at the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE, 1982–2000). He has published eighty papers on geothermal reservoir engineering and applied mathematics. He was co-founder and editor (1987–1994) of GEOTERMIA, a journal devoted to geothermal energy. He is one of the founders of the Mexican Geothermal Association (1992) and is member of the International Geothermal Association (IGA), editor of the book series “Multiphysics Modeling” and author of the book “Introduction to the Numerical Modeling of Groundwater and Geothermal Systems – Fundamentals of mass, energy and solute transport in poroelastic rocks. Vol. 2, Multiphysics Modeling Series (CRC Press – Taylor & Francis Group, 2010).
