Julia Maximiliane Schwarz is currently working at the TU Darmstadt. After studying Political Sciences, African Studies and American Studies in Frankfurt/Main, she finished her PhD project on language attitudes and language policy in Uganda in 2012. Subsequently, she joined the project AFRASO (Africa’s Asian Options) at Goethe University Frankfurt/Main. Her research project focused on African–Asian interactions in Uganda and Zanzibar. In 2014 she conducted preliminary fieldwork in both areas.
