Anton Friedrich Koch is professor of Philosophy at the University of Heidelberg. He was born in 1952 in Gießen, he obtained his doctorate in 1980 in Heidelberg and his qualification in 1989 in Munich. From 1993 to 1996he was professor of history of philosophy in Halle. From 1996 to 2009 he was a professor of philosophy in Tübingen. In the summer semester of 2009 he was a visiting professor at Emory University in Atlanta and in thewinter semester of 2016 at the University of Chicago (Committee on Social Thought). Since 2008 he has been a member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences (Landesakademie Baden–Württemberg).
