Stavros G. Georgiou originates from Morphou and lives in Nicosia, Cyprus. He studied Greek Philology and Byzantine and Medieval History at the Aristotle University of Thessalonica. He received a Ph.D. in Byzantine and Medieval Hhistory from the same university in 2005. His research interests focus on the administrative institutions of Byzantine Empire and court hierarchy, the political, economical and social history of Byzantine Empire, especially of the Comnenian Era, and the history of byzantine Cyprus. He is the author of a number of articles, reviews and encyclopaedic entries. He taught Greek history at the Open University of Cyprus and Byzantine history at the University of Cyprus.
