Maria Stefanidou

Full Professor AUTH, Head of the Laboratory of Building Materials, School of Civil Engineering. She has diploma in Geology (1993), Master in Nanoscience and Nanotechnologies (2011) and PhD in Traditional materials (2000) from Aristotle University in Thessaloniki.
She is a member of research group in 115 national and European projects and scientific responsible in 22. She serves as a reviewer for 15 high-IF scientific journals, she is associate editor in Journal of Building Engineering Journal (Elsevier) and a guest editor for Materials (MDPI), Materials. She is a regional convener of RILEM in Europe and has been a member of 5 RILEM technical committees.
The research interests are focused on the analysis of the physico-mechanical, thermal and microstructure properties of building materials. Introducing sustainable materials (industrial by-products and bio-fibres) and record their properties.
She has a H-index=28 (scopus).
Achievements: Honorable distinction from EUROPA NOSTRA (AWARD 2004) as a research associate in the European project EC-FORTMED for the restoration study of the Castle of Serbia. She is among the 2% of the most influential researchers in the world for 2020 and 2022 according to the ranking by Stanford University Elsevier.
