Clarissa Ceruti is a professional with more than 15 years of experience in technology transfer working both in the US and Italy.
Clarissa received a MS in Organic Chemistry at the University of Torino (Italy), a PhD in Biochemistry at the Medical School in Torino, Italy, and an MBA from Simmons University, Boston, MA.
Upon receiving her MBA, she worked with Prof. Gary Pisano and Henry Chesbrough at Harvard Business School, and with Prof. F Murray at the MIT Sloan School of Management studying different aspects of the biotech industry and its relationship with pharma companies, and writing business cases for the HBS students. That experience made her realized how important is to understand the business aspects of science.
Since 2007 she has been working in technology transfer first at the University of Pennsylvania and then The Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, and more recently at the Bioindustry Park, Ivrea, Torino. In her role, she has managed and evaluated a portfolio of technologies negotiating license agreements, industry-sponsored research agreements, and option agreements.
She is currently a Consultant in Tech Transfer at Bugnion where she leverages her expertise to evaluate the patentability and commercial potential of life science assets, identify strategic partners and in-licensing opportunities, assess market trends and competitive landscapes, and develop targeted marketing strategies to support licensing activities.She also serves as the Executive Director of the Italian Scientists and Scholars in North America Foundation (ISSNAF), where she spearheads strategic initiatives to promote scientific exchange, mentoring, and transatlantic collaboration between Italy and North America, and she is teaching innovation management, technology transfer, and biotech entrepreneurship at the University of Torino, the University of Bologna, Università del Piemonte Orientale, and Bologna Business School.
