Having received his BA in modern languages from the University of Cambridge and his PhD in comparative literature from Princeton University, Max Matukhin is currently a researcher at the Università degli studi di Bergamo, where he is the Principal Investigator for the project “Hybrid Tongues: Plurilingualism in Medieval Romance Literature”. His first monograph, “Fiction’s Truths: False Confessions and the Rise of Vernacular Literature”, examines the meta-poetic relations between literature and penance during the Late Middle Ages. More generally, his research focuses on questions of poetics and stylistics in medieval Romance literature with a particular focus on satirical and comical texts.
