Maria Clara Ghia has 15 years of teaching and researching experience. Since 2003 she has been teaching History and Theory of Architecture at La Sapienza University, John Cabot American University and Guglielmo Marconi University in Rome. She gained expertise in: archive researching, working with issues of architectural sustainability and ethical thinking in design, joining multidisciplinary team of researchers, running Master studio and tutoring Master thesis. From 2016 she is Lecturer and Course Responsible for History of Architecture at UMA, Umeå University. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in Rome at La Sapienza University (2003). She studied also in Paris (École d'architecture de La Villette). She received her joint Ph.d in Architecture and Philosophy from Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3, France and La Sapienza University, Italy in (2008). She developed a specific interest for interdisciplinary research, trying out a view on architecture fed by inquiries in other fields, such as philosophy, fine art and literature. She published several significant articles and books, such as Prescrivere Liberare. Saggio su ethos e architettura (Officina edizioni, Roma, 2013), Leonardo Ricci. Monterinaldi, Balmain, Mann-Borgese con A. Greco (Palombi editori, Roma, 2012), Le epifanie di Proteo con A. Greco, R. Nicolini (Gangemi editore, Roma, 2008). In 2011 she won the Bruno Zevi International Prize for an historical essay on second world war Italian architecture and the work of Leonardo Ricci.
