Andrea Frank was born and raised in Germany. She graduated with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and received her MFA from Parsons in New York City, where she also participated in the Whitney Independent Study Program. From 2003 – 12 she served as a lecturer in Photography and Related Media at the MIT Program in Art, Culture and Technology in Cambridge, MA. She is currently an Associate professor in Photography at the State University of New York at New Paltz. Frank's work has been exhibited internationally and explores questions of collective conditioning and responsibility, psychology, and sustainability. She addresses related issues through lens-based mixed media, and actively engages in collaborative experiential research and engagement strategies.
