Gillian Mansfield is associate professor of English Linguistics at the University of Parma. Her present research interests are wordplay in media texts, cultural identity in global advertising and the popularizing features of texts in museum websites. Her most recent publications include: Laughter in the lecture theatre — a serious matter. Studying verbal humour in the British TV sitcom (2012), Make up or Made up? Intra and interlinguistic messages in the globalised world of cosmetic advertising (2013) and Hands On. Developing Language Awareness Through Corpus Investigation (2014). She is currently President of CercleS and Editor–in–Chief with David Little of Language Learning in Higher Education.
