With a Ph.D. in Art History, Elizalde specializes in art theory and design. She is currently a Research Professor at the Faculty of Arts of the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos and Full Professor of Art Semiotics at the Research and Teaching Center for the Humanities of the State of Morelos. She belongs to the National System of Researchers. She is the author of articles of art criticism and texts specializing in art semiotics, graphic semiotics and historic research regarding editorial production and design in Mexico. She has coordinated the books Latin American Cultural Magazines: 1920-1960 (2007) and Latin American Cultural Magazines: 1960-2008 (2010); she is the author of the book Design in the University of Mexico Magazine (2009), a study of the dissemination of university culture based on visual semiotics.
