Giovanni Leghissa

Giovanni Leghissa is Research Professor of Epistemology of the Humanities at the Department of Philosophy, University of Torino, Italy. He graduated in Philosophy from the University of Trieste, Italy. From the same University he holds a PhD in Philosophy. He was Visiting Professor at the Institut für Philosophie at the University of Vienna, Austria, and at the Hochschule für Gestaltung, Karlsruhe, Germany. His work focuses on phenomenology, continental philosophy, psychoanalysis, gender and cultural studies, and comparative philosophy. At present, his main focus concerns a critique of the neoliberal model of rationality, as it has been developed both by the School of Chicago and by the Theory of Organization. He has authored four books: L’evidenza impossibile. Saggio sull’immaginazione in Husserl} (Trieste: LINT, 1999); Il dio mortale. Ipotesi sulla religiosità moderna} (Milano: Medusa, 2004); Il gioco dell’identità. Differenza, alterità, rappresentazione (Milano: Mimesis, 2005), Incorporare l’antico. Filologia classica e invenzione della modernità (Milano: Mimesis, 2007). He edited six collective volumes and special issues of journals. He edited also the Italian version of works of Husserl, Derrida, Blumenberg, Hall, de Certeau, Overbeck, Tempels. He is member of the editorial board of the journal of philosophy “aut aut”.
