Jerrold Levinson is Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the University of Maryland, Past President of the American Society for Aesthetics (2001-2003) and member of the editorial board of the “Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism.” He has held Visiting Professor or Lecturer positions at Columbia University, Cornell University, Johns Hopkins University, University of Canterbury, University of Rennes, University of Lisbon, University of Kent, Catholic University of Leuven. He has published many books on aesthetics and philosophy of art. For the volume of essays Arte, critica e storia (2011) he was awarded the International prize of the Societa Italiana d’Estetica.
