Paolo Bassi was born on June 28, 1951 in Vicenza, Italy. He graduated, with honors, in Electronic Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Bologna, Italy. From 1977 he worked at the University of Bologna where he is now Full Professor of Electromagnetic Fields at the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering (DEI). In 1980 he was the recipient of the G. Someda scholarship of the AEI. He has tought and is teaching courses on electromagnetic theory, guided wave optics, lens design, electroacoustics end optical signal processing. His main scientific interests are on the theoretical and experiment study of guided wave optics for telecommunications and sensing.
