Paola Bignami
Paola Bignami is Associate Professor for Theatre Studies.
She teaches Theory and History of Set Design [Teoria e Storia della Scenografia] for the first tier of the D.A.M.S Theatre and Drama Degree Course; Costume History [Storia del costume] in the second tier of the same course; and for the Theatrical and Cinematographic doctorate course, third tier, [Dottorato in Cinema, musica teatro.]; From many years Paola Bignami has done extensive research on theatre design and use since Renaissance times, as well as on set design and construction, costumes, theatre techniques, etc. over the centuries until now.
Paola Bignami started her career from iconographic studies of Italian theatre in the Renaissance. She received a grant from the National Centre of Research CNRf or this research. After that, Paola Bignami did research on Nineteenth-century theatre and actors at the Civic Museum Biblioteca dell'Attore di Genova, and subsequently she studied and organized the archives of Antonio Gandusio, at Biblioteca di Casa Borelli in Bologna.
