Andrew Leach is an Associate Professor of Architecture in the Griffith School of Environment at Griffith University’s Gold Coast campus. He studied at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand (BA, MArch), and Ghent University, Belgium (PhD) before joining UQ as a UQ Postdoctoral Research Fellow from 2006 to 2008. From 2009 to 2011 he was an ARC Australian Postdoctoral Fellow and in 2009 was a Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at Ghent University. Leach specialises in the history of twentieth-century architecture and the intellectual history of twentieth-century architectural culture. Among his books are What is Architectural History? (Polity 2010),Architecture, Disciplinarity, and the Arts (A&S 2009, edited with John Macarthur), Manfredo Tafuri: Choosing History (A&S 2007) and Shifting Views: Selected Essays on the Architectural History of Australia and New Zealand (UQP 2008, edited with Antony Moulis and Nicole Sully). He serves on the editorial boards of SAHANZ, Architectural Theory Review,De Witte Raaf and the Routledge book series Critiques. He was an editor of Fabrications from 2006 to 2009. His current writing ranges in topic from the history of historiography of the Roman baroque to the architectural history of the Gold Coast. His principal book project is provisionally titled Borromini and Beyond: Architecture and History from Croce to Tafuri.
