Fabrizio Di Pasquale is Associate Professor in Telecommunications at the Scuola Superiore di Studi Universitari e Perfezionamento Sant'Anna, Pisa. He was born in Melito di Porto Salvo, Italy, in 1963. He received the degree in ElectronicEngineering from University of Bologna in 1989 and the Ph.D in Information Technology from University of Parma in 1993. From 1993 to 1998 he was with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University College London, as a Research Fellow. His research interests were mainly related to optical amplifiers, WDM optical coommunication systems and liquid crystal displays. From 1998 to 2002 he was first with Pirelli Cavi e Sistemi and then with Cisco Photonics, working on Raman amplifiers and EDFAs for advanced WDM optical communication systems. His present research interests include optical fiber sensors, optical amplification, WDM optical communication systems and networks. He has filed 15 international patents concerned with EDFAs and Raman amplifiers for advances WDM systems and networks and he is co-author of more than 110 papers published in international journals and presented at international conferences.
His teaching activities include courses on optical components/amplification and optical communication systems given at Scuola Superiore di Studi Universitari e Perfezionamento Sant'Anna, University of Parma, PUC Rio de Janeiro, and at several private companies. He is a Member of the Technical Program Committee (TPC) of the European Conference on Optical Communications (ECOC 2009). He is in the board of reviewers of IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, IEEE/OSA Journal of Lightwave Technology, Optics Communications, Optics Express and Optics Letters.
