Seppo Valkealahti was born in Finland in 1955. He was educated at Alavus Senior High School graduating in 1973. He received his Master of Philosophy Degree in Physics in 1983 and Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Physics in 1987, both from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. He has been also Docent in Materials Science in the University of Jyväskylä since 1996.
Seppo Valkealahti has given lectures in Physics to university students at all level from first year students up to postgraduate student. After joining the Tampere University of Technology at beginning of 2004 Seppo also given lectures on all level. The current regular courses are Electrical Energy for first year students and grid connected photovoltaic power plants for advanced special and postgraduate studies. Seppo has supervised and examined over 50 Master Thesis and a number Bachelor thesis and corresponding demonstrations of scholarship.
Seppo has published around 40 refereed scientific articles in physics or in electrical energy engineering and given roughly the same amount of presentations in scientific conferences. The journal papers have been cited over 1000 times.
