Garry Burge

Garry Burge was born in Brisbane, Australia in August 1972. He was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome in 1998 by Dr Tony Attwood. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of New England, Armidale, Australia in 1999 majoring in Politics and Sociology. It was in the last year of his degree that Garry was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome.
In his spare time Garry advocates for adults on the Autism Spectrum. He self published a book in 2011 with a Foreword from Dr Tony Attwood called I Want To Work An Asperger Story. This book discusses Garry’s experiences of trying to find employment on the Autism Spectrum. He also recently was published in a book called Been There. Done That. Try This. This book is a book which contains useful information and insights from adults on the Autism Spectrum as mentors with the edition of Dr Tony Attwood.
Garry currently works at the University of Queensland Library. He has worked there as a Service Support Assistant since 2006. He also grows orchids in his spare time and has been fortunate to have travelled the world in both 2010 and 2011.
