Alina-Georgiana Focşineanu (born on October 6th, 1990, Fălticeni, Romania) is a PhD student at the Faculty of Letters, University of Bucharest, Romania. Her PhD thesis treats the Oriental influence on politeness strategies in Romanian language in the 18th century. Bachelor in Arabic and Romanian in 2013. MA in Islamic Space and Linguistics in 2015. Internships at the Romanian Academy (2013-2015). A member of the “A. Philippide” Cultural Association of Iasi (since 2015). Interests and areas of competence: Romanian-Oriental contacts, Arabic philology, imagology, sociolinguistics, stylistics, pragmatics, contrastive linguistics, Semitic linguistics, Romanian language history, historical linguistics.
