Marcello Spagnulo

Is an Aeronautical Engineer graduated at “La Sapienza” University, Rome; since May 2014 he is Consultat and Managing Associate at Extraterrestrials Essentials LLC (USA). Since 2009 he was at the Italian Space Agency as Advisor to the President. Since 2005 he was in Finmeccanica in the Space Directorate. Since 1997 he was in Thales Alenia Space SpA in Rome. Since 1990 he was at Arianespace near Paris, attending 14 Ariane 4 launch campaigns in Kourou. Since 1988 he was at the European Space Agency ESTEC in Holland. In 1987 he worked at Italspazio, Rome. He attended courses on Management and Business at IRI Management School in Rome and the SDA-Bocconi in Milan. In 2005 he attended the 56th course of the “Istituto Alti Studi della Difesa” of the Italian Minister of Defence. In 2006-2009 he was Member of the Board of NGL-Prime SpA, a Finmeccanica and Astrium Space joint company. In 2012 he has been awarded Member of the “Academie Francaise de l’Aeronautique et de l’Espace”. Since 2011 he is member of the Scientific Committee of the “Volandia” Museum in Malpensa near Milan, and since 2013 is member of the Space Committee of the “Leonardo Da Vinci” Science and Technology Museum in Milan. He teaches at the Masters in Space Systems at the Universities of Rome, and at SIOI institute (Società Italiana Organizzazione Internazionale) at the “Space Politics and Institutions” Master. He authored more than 40 technical papers. In 2009 he wrote the book “Lo Spazio oltre la Terra” edited by Giunti-Edizioni (awarded in 2010 at the 7th literary competition “Giulio Dohuet”). In 2011 he authored the book “Elementi di Management dei Programmi Spaziali” edited by Springer Italy, and in 2012 the book “Space Program Management: Methods and Tools” edited by Springer USA and translated into Chinese in 2013.Since 2009 he collaborates as columnist with the Italian quarterly publication “Space Magazine”, and since 2013 with the Air Press monthly magazine on Aerospace Policy.
