Saraykar passed M.Sc. degree in 1973 and he was awarded Ph.D. in 1979 by Nagpur University. The topic of Ph.D. dissertation was Applications of Functional analysis and global analysis to some problems in fluid dynamics and magnetofluiddynamics.
He studied the books by Y. Matsushima (Differentiable Manifolds), Kobayashi and Nomizu, (Foundations of differential geometry, Volume 1) and R. Abraham and J.E. Marsden (Foundations of Mechanics), and basic works of D. Ebin, A. E. Fischer, J.E. Marsden, Tosio Kato and Roger Temam in fluid dynamics and general theory of relativity. He worked upon linearization stability problem of Einstein field equations coupled with scalar fields, gravitational collapse and stability analysis of occurrence of naked singularities with respect to initial data. He has approximately 44 research publications on his name published in reputed journals. He has also delivered numerous invited talks and presented research papers at many national and international conferences, seminars and work-shops.
