Ludovico Galleni was Professor of Zoology and Biological Evolution at the University of Pisa (IT). He was visiting professor of History of Science at the Catholic University of Louvain (Louvain–la–Neuve, Belgium) and invited professor of Biological Evolution at the Pontifical Gregorian University (Rome). His main scientific interests concerned the relationships between chromosomal evolution and speciation in various animal groups. Alongside experimental activity, he worked in the preparation of mathematical and informatics supports both for biology and for evolutionary biological theories. He also worked on the interface of evolutionary biology with theology, developing an analysis of the scientific work of the paleontologist and Jesuit Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. He wrote countless scientific publications in many scientific and cultural fields.
