Karin Grünewald
Karin Grünewald studied Aerospace Engineering at the University of Stuttgart. She wrote her doctoral thesis on the Modelling of Energy Transfer Processes in Longitudinally Flown CO2 lasers. In 1986, she started her work in the R&D of gas flow lasers at the Institute of Laser Technologies in Stuttgart. In 1994, she changed to chemical laser development at the DLR Institute of Technical Physics. After initial investigations on the atmospheric conditions and their effects on low energy laser propagation at the open space laser test range at DLR Lampoldshausen she developed the framework for establishing the microbiological branch in the CBE detection and has been working on the optical characterization of bio-agents since 2012.
