Daniel Schachter
Born in Buenos Aires in 1953. Musical studies in Argentina principally with Salvador Ranieri -analysis and contemporary composing techniques- and Enrique Gerardi (concrete and electroacoustic music). Since 1989 made electroacoustic and mixed music his specialty, and worked with Enrique Belloc taking part of several real time electroacoustic and mixed music composition and performing groups.He is Professor and Researcher at the Humanities and Arts Department at the UNLa - National University of Lanús (Buenos Aires, Argentina) where he is also Director of the CEPSA ResearchCenter for Studies in Sonic and Audiovisual Arts, and co-Artistic Director of the Acousmatic and Multimedia Festival “Sonoimágenes”. He's been also Professor at the University of Tres de Febrero (Electronic Arts Degree Career), University of Belgrano (Cinema, Radio and Television Degree Career), and also taught for many years electroacoustic composition at the Julian Aguirre Conservatory, in the outskirts of Buenos Aires City, where he founded the Electroacoustic Laboratory in 1998. In 1993 he worked in the carrying out of the new Laboratory of Electroacoustic Music at the National University of Rosario (Argentina). In 2002 he was invited by the University of La Serena (Chile) for a residence as Professor at the courses for educational qualification and improvement in electroacoustic music.He attended courses and seminaries on sound generation and computer-assisted composition, at the IRCAM - Paris (computer-assisted composition through Patchwork and Chant software), and at the “LIPM” Laboratory of Research, Recoleta Cultural Center, (Buenos Aires); principally from 1995 to 2000 the courses on computer assisted sound generation and composition with Csound software by Riccardo Bianchini (Santa Caecilia Conservatory, Rome); and also in 2000 at the Buenos Aires' Alliance Française the stage “Acousmatic Music - From Support to Space by Francis Dhomont (University of Montreal, Canadá). In 1983 completed his Degree at the Buenos Aires University where he studied Economics and Computer Systems.He has been member of the Argentine Electroacoustic Music Federation and also an associated composer and researcher at the LIPM Music Research and Production Laboratory at the Recoleta Cultural Center in Buenos Aires.
