Raffaele Vacca is an assistant professor of sociology at the University of Florida, where he conducts research on migration, social networks, and health. He is appointed in the Department of Sociology and Criminology & Law, and is affiliated with the University’s Bureau of Economic and Business Research, Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and Center for European Studies.
Most of Dr. Vacca's research is concerned with migration, immigrant incorporation, social networks, and health inequalities in Europe and the US. He is also interested in the social study of science and scientific collaboration, and in methods of network analysis and statistical modeling of social network data.
Dr. Vacca's work has appeared in international scientific journals such as Social Networks, Plos One, the Italian Journal of Applied Statistics, and the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. Dr. Vacca has also recently coauthored a textbook on personal network research for Guilford Press with a team of European and American sociologists and anthropologists.
