Francesco Murano

Francesco Murano, architect, graduated in Rome with a dissertation on architectural composition. He then received his Master’s degree in Industrial Design at the Domus Academy in Milan and the title of Doctor in Industrial Design at the Politecnico di Milano with a thesis entitled “The figures of light”. He has dedicated himself to teaching, scientific research and design for italian and foreign industries, national and international agencies and cultural institutions. For years, he has coordinated the Master of Lighting Design at the IED European Institute of Design; he is currently professor at the Faculty of Design of the Politecnico di Milano, where is also researcher at the Colour and Light Laboratories. He is author of “Storia della Luministica, la messa in scena della luce da Erone ad Appia” and with Gisella Gellini of “Light Art in Italy 2008”, “Light Art in Italy 2009”, “Light Art in Italy 2010”.
